Guess Where Politicians From Socialised Medicine Countries Go For Healthcare...

The political classes have long argued that we ought become more like Canada, particularly when it comes to adopting their healthcare system. So it is instructive to see where the Canadian political class go to receive medical treatment. Obviously, if socialist medicine was the paradise its proponents claimed, they would get it in Canada, right?

Of course, no-one would seriously take that claim with a straight face. Because the reality is, if you want good medical treatment in Canada, you pretty much have only one option - travel to the United States. Which is exactly what Newfoundland and Labrador Premier (think Governor) Danny Williams did last week, when he traveled to the United States for heart surgery. According to his representative, "Williams travelled to the U.S. for the surgery because itwasn’t being offered to him in his home province.

If socialized medicine isn't good enough for socialist politicians, why do they want to inflict it upon the U.S. public?

The only people attempting to make a real issue of this are US lobbyists and Canadian right wing lobbyists. Meanwhile, the majority of Canadians look at it and shrug their shoulders with indifference. Danny Williams is worth a quarter of a billion dollars..yes a BILLION dollars. He more than likely wants to be in a 5 star hotel like setting, than a hospital. He's probably flown his family in where they can bed down in a suite within the hospital. In Canada, we don't have 5 star suites in hospitals. He would have to be in a hospital room like everyone else and his family would need to stay in a hotel. 99% of America could never afford the same health care luxuries of Williams.

OK fear monger, so you can find a guy in Canada who came to the US to get heart surgery and you turn that into proof that their single payer sytem is no good! Give me a break. How do you explain our WHO rank of 37? How do you explain France being Number 1 with their single payer system? If it's the best, why doesn't it cover 47 Million out of 300 Million people? Why can't the best healthcare system in the world keep us healthy? How do you explain our epidemic in Diabetes, cancer and heart disease if we have the best heathcare system in the world? If you think we have the best, your sights are set way too low.

health care won't stop diabetes, cancer,or heart disease. If one eats junk all day, smokes and never takes a walk because the're to lazy don't blame it on lack of care.Go to any mall and watch the overweight people in the food court acting like hogs and have the childern doing it.The doctors can't shut down the fast food lines and make people feed their childern a healthy meal, but it should be child abuse not to.
